Melad farahna - ميلاد فرحنا

Materials: 100% cotton canvas stretched on a wooden frame, painted with non-toxic acrylic paint, liners and 3D liquid liners.

Story: The painting is inspired by the birth of a couples first born and traditional Sudanese customs that follow the birth. The parents are dressed in traditional Sudanese attire made from Forat - فورات (woven handmade cotton threads) typically worn by followers of Al Imam Al Mahdi - الإمام المهدي.

The surroundings of the family of three are the Sudanese traditional furniture Zeer – زير (big vase made of clay to store drinking water) Aangareeb - عنقريب  (traditional handmade bed) and the Mobkhar – مبخر (evaporator) spreading the Sanadal wood scent for welcoming the visitors coming to see the new baby.

Also in the background are the two features the tower of the Omdurman state council showing at its clock the time the baby was born and Al Mahdi Mosque’s dome, from Omdurman the beloved and root city of both the baby’s parents. In addition the sun and water represent the river Nile both to reflect the wealth and prosperity the baby will bring to his parents.
