This wooden slate painting celebrates the diverse cultures and tribes of Sudan, featuring traditional attire and homes from different regions. On the top right, a Nubian girl from Wadi Halfa stands in front of her beautifully decorated clay house, holding her garar dress and yellow scarf. In the top left, a girl from Northern Kordofan dances in a beaded dress with a wooden straw skirt and head scarf, holding a feather. On the bottom right, a girl from the Begga tribe in eastern Sudan dances with a sword in front of her traditional hut, as a clay pot of coffee simmers on a clay stove. Lastly, a girl from Western Darfour dances near her hut close to Gabal Marra, with a feather-adorned headpiece and shells and beads around her waist. Each girl poses with her home, built using local resources to blend with the beautiful surrounding landscapes.
