Beja Tribe newlyweds - عرسان البجا

The painting is inspired by the fascinating diversity of Sudanese folklore. A newly married couple from Eastern Sudan are posing in front of their new home, a tent made of Birish- بيرش (braidedded dry palm tree leaves). They are holding closely a sword and a shield which are used by the Beja - البجا tribe during times of war and celebratory dancing.
