Tagoug wa Al-Mahalag Cushion Cover – غطاء وسادة تاجوج و المحلق
The design is extracted from a painting holding the same name, depicting the legendary couple "Tajouj and Mahalag – تاجوج و المحلق" from a renowned fairy tale. Tajouj, celebrated for her beauty, hails from the Bega tribe and embodies the grace of East Sudan. Her lover, Al Mahalag, was passionately devoted to her, leaving behind a legacy of romantic poetry and a legendary love story.
In the painting, the couple stands proudly in front of their new home, a tent woven from "Birish – بيرش" (braided dry palm tree leaves). They hold a sword and a shield "درع", traditional items of the Beja – البجا tribe, used both in times of war and in celebratory dances. This artwork beautifully captures the essence of their love and cultural heritage.
